Joan Kravtin

On August 30, 2005, I began my new life at Spring Harbor in an independent living apartment. Within ten months, on May 30, 2006, I had to have a full right shoulder replacement. Within two days, I was discharged from the hospital.

The good news was that the surgery was a complete success; the bad news was that I was totally incapacitated! Spring Harbor staff arranged for my recuperation on the second floor of the Healthcare Center at Spring Harbor. From that moment on, all of my care and needs were fully taken care of for five weeks, until I was fully recuperated and returned to my own apartment.

I truly missed my “2nd Floor Family” and can honestly say that I would not have made the fast recovery that I did without the care of all of the nursing staff and physical therapy that I received at Spring Harbor. It was a true burden taken off of my children’s shoulders. I even had the wonderful help from our driver, Joanne, to take me wherever I needed to be, before I was allowed to drive. The entire staff and my friends from the apartments would always be checking up on me.

I truly feel so very much a part of this special community. This experience has left me with complete peace of mind, knowing that whatever comes my way, I will have both my family and my “Spring Harbor family” to help me face the future! For being able to have the privilege of being here, I thank God and my beloved late husband Sammy!
